Valentine’s Day Lollipop Cards and Candy Bar Wrappers

I love pulling out my big plastic drawers full of craft supplies. It really does make me happy.

I rounded up everything I had that was red, pink, sparkly, or shiny and dumped it all out on my desktop.

My first thought was to make cards, and then that idea evolved into candy cards, or candy bar wrappers. Because everyone likes to get a little treat, right?

I started out with lollipop cards.

First cut out two pieces of coordinating paper. The larger piece, that you’ll use for the backing, should be 4″ x 5″. And the smaller piece, 3 1/2″ by 4″.

Lay your lollipop on top of the smaller piece, and mark where you want the stick to slide through. Then using a slot punch, cut out two holes.

Push the lollipop stick through the holes, and then flip the piece of paper over.

You’ll want to adhere the smaller piece of paper to the larger one now. I used both an adhesive roller and raised foam adhesive dots. It just depends on what you want your finished product to look like. Mark just the corners of the paper, flip it over and line it up to the edges of the larger piece, and secure.

Then decorate!

I have a wide variety of embellishments on hand… everything from these cute felt hearts to pearl dots and heart brads and ribbon. You can use whatever your little heart desires.

This one, I inked the edges of the paper a little, added a strip of ribbon, some glitter hearts and a raised bubble sticker. There are no rules here.  :)

Slip them into a pretty envelope-

And send them off to someone you love!

After I was finished making lollipop cards, I decided to wrap up a couple of candy bars. Why not?

I used a plain Hershey’s bar. If you have a different chocolate bar, you may want to measure to make sure it will fit.

Start with a piece of paper that’s been trimmed to 4 1/2″ x 6″.

Fold both ends around the candy bar and secure with a bit of adhesive along the back seam.

Then flip over and add your embellishments.

A few more of those glitter hearts and a Valentine sticker here…

But I love this one… the pattern on the paper is a raised velvety print, and I’ve added some adhesive pearl dots, another felt heart and a bit of pretty ribbon.

They’re incredibly simple, and I’m sure they’ve been done a million times before, but they’re cute and fun and can be done in the span of a toddler’s nap time!

That combination will always a winning one for me.

Enjoy!  :)
